Who we are

We are a team of marine conservation biologists who conduct research on whales, dolphins and other marine wildlife in British Columbia (BC) and around the world.  Good conservation and management actions rely on information resulting from good science.  Our work provides robust data cost-effectively.  Our work addresses two themes:  estimating animal abundance and distribution; and assessing impacts of human activities on behaviour, energetics and population dynamics of marine wildlife.  While we have studied baleen whales in the Antarctic and river dolphins in the Amazon, we work primarily in Pacific Canadian waters, namely, by surveying the animals and habitat between the waters surveyed by US Federal agencies in California, Oregon and Washington and Alaska.  We partner on marine conservation projects with government agencies, non-government organizations and First Nations.
